I remember walking down Michigan Avenue in the dead middle of winter on my way to work in the mornings. It was cold, grey, and loud. I'd pass Burberry, and Coach, and Cartier and all of those dear stores that I could never possibly afford on my little Apple salary. I never went into any of them nor has my virgin eyes ever really seen any of them.
All of the giltz and glam that came along with the city never interrupted the person I am. I never took the time to go into these places right away because there just wasn't much of a point. However; I must pay homage to an establishment called "Van Cleef & Arpels".
On those walks to work, when everything was so miserable outside, I would pass this store. Imagine everything in slow motion. I'd slow down, stop, and just stare. The sounds of the city and the people would just 'go away' for a few minutes. Van Cleef & Arpels' displays were beautiful and perfectly complimented the jewelry they had on show. It was always some sort of motif. Right now, their focus is on their Midsummer Nights Dream collection. I love the way their designs are twisted and completely out of shape. You almost forget it's jewelry and you think you are in some crazy wonderland where I could consider myself Snow White for just a minute, and all the dragonflies and birds were made of crystals and all things "sparkley".
Just take a minute to visit their website and you'll know what I mean. If you're a guy, you probably shouldn't bother, I think this may be one of those "girl things". =-)
Thank you Van Cleef and Arpels, you were my quiet escape during my loud excursions.
wow, thanks for sharing that! amazing.
